Biodiversity Survey
Our biodiversity surveys aim to identify, inventory, and map flora, fauna, and habitats as a scientific foundation for environmental planning and impact monitoring. In Kemuning Forest, Central Java, JAWI conducts systematic surveys three times a year. Since 2016, we have recorded 118 bird species, 26 herpetofauna species, and 14 mammal species.
The presence of endemic species such as the Javan Spadefoot Toad (Leptobrachium hasseltii), Javan River Frog (Wijayarana masonii), Javan Slow Loris (Nycticebus javanicus), and Sunda Porcupine (Hystrix javanica) underscores Kemuning Forest's role as a vital sanctuary. Conservation efforts focused on habitat protection and mitigating threats—such as poaching and land-use change—are essential to ensuring the long-term survival of these unique and valuable species.
